Clinical nutrition and diet therapy is the study of science of nutrients that analyses a person consumption of food with respect to nutrients and how the nutrients are digested, absorbed, transported, metabolized, stored, utilized and the resulting by-products excreted as waste by the body. It will expose students to nutrition and the pathological processes that occur in the body. The pathological processes will involve the study of the cardiovascular, gastro-intestinal and urinary system. This course will also give the students some insight into the ethics or laws governing the nutrition and dietetic practice, patient/ client rights and responsibilities for the Ghana Health Service and codes/regulations governing the sale, distribution and marketing of nutrient supplements.
